South Korea!

Hello everybody!

I’m sitting on a bean bag chair, listening to Justin Bieber’s Mistletoe with my peppermint tea, as a storm blows outside.  Redding has rain!  I feel your pain, those of you who are in Abbotsford with all the rain and gray skies!  Soon I’ll be joining you! :)

I just wanted to take a minute to fill you in on the opportunity for me to go to South Korea through Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry.

I am apart of a team of 23 people, made up of first and second years.  My trip will be lead by first year pastors, who are my housemate’s, aunt and uncle.  They are Korean Americans, and are so excited to be forerunners for Bethel’s Korea mission trip.

Our contacts are a couple in Korea who are BSSM graduates.  He is a life coach and has coached many famous actors and musicians.  An Actress in a Korean drama that I had just watched with my roommates, was actually brought to Bethel by our contact and she was healed of cancer!  His wife runs a preschool, and is influencing children at a young age to be kingdom minded and aware of the love of Jesus.

South Korea is a beautiful and passionate nation that is hungry for identity.  Our team is so excited to be able to bless Korea and bring all of our talents and gifts together and see how God uses us to bring identity and life into this nation.  I am personally excited because I carry an anointing for bringing people into their royal identity, breaking off comparison, and loving all of yourself.  I will be able to be stretched and to share my breakthroughs with the people, especially the young women of South Korea.

If you would like to support me financially to go to South Korea, you can give a few different ways!

City of Angels Part:2

The next event of our trip to LA was to Venice Beach.  Venice Beach is known for it’s street performers, fortune tellers, artists, and vendors.  My team arrived, set up a tent, and made signs that said “future readings” and “spiritual healings” and in Christian-ese we meant, prophecy and healing.  I joined a group of 3 others who went out and chatted with street vendors and treasure hunted.  We got to pray for numerous people and businesses.  But one of my favourite encounters was meeting these 2 guys who decided to adventure across the US to skateboard and have a good time.  They approached us, and we chatted for a while and built a bit of a relationship.  We prayed for their knees and ankles and feet.  Some pain decreased and some pain completely disappeared.  We prophesied over them, and got words of knowledge.  They were really blessed and something inside of them was stirred and curious.  We all exchanged contact information, as they had wanted to stop by in Redding to check out Bethel, but unfortunately decided not to head as far north as Redding was.  Others on my team had amazing encounters with people on the beach as well.  People were prayed for, healed, encouraged, amazed, saved and set free.  I want to encourage you all to value the person, over looking for a salvation.  People are not projects, they are people, and they need to encounter genuine love- no hidden agendas.
Our team partnered with a Hispanic church which met in Angelus Temple, started by Canadian revivalist, Aimee Semple McPherson!  We prophesied, lead worship, and got to minister to their amazing church family.  One evening, I was walking around laying hands and praying for people.  I took the hands of one woman and started telling her things that I felt the Lord wanted her to know.  She found me later on that night, and asked if anyone was behind her, putting their hands on her shoulders.  I said no, it was just me.  She went on to explain that she had felt hands on her shoulders the whole time.    I initially thought was, “COOOL! It must have been an angel, or Jesus!”.  Later as I thought about it, I was in awe of the revelation that all of heaven backs me up.  I am powerful and trusted and when I minister and love on people, heaven is right beside me.  I have responded to the invitation to co-labour with Christ, and that means I actually do work with Him!  I want to release my revelation of how we actually work beside Christ, and we have all of heaven backing us up, and supporting us!  May this revelation change your mindset, and fill you with courage and boldness as you love the people in your lives!
This trip was amazing and it was a healthy reminder, that not everyone lives in a culture of honour, love, encouragement, and the Lord’s presence.  But everyone deeply craves to be loved, and adopted into a family of unconditional love.  The truth and light that we carry is God’s plan A to bring the world into a love encounter with Him!

Love you all! Will be coming home in 21 days! :)

The City of Angels.

Happy November!

On October 31, I ventured to Los Angeles for a 2nd year ministry trip, along with about 45 other BSSM students.  We arrived just in time for Hollywood Blvd. to host a crazy and intense Halloween evening.  A skater DTS with YWAM was staying at the Oasis of Hollywood http://oasisofhollywood.org/ with us for our first evening.  We joined forces and hit the streets of Hollywood Blvd.

We decided to do a ‘treasure hunt’, which is simply asking God who He’d like us to go minister to.  He often will tell us things about what they are wearing, or where we will meet them, or what their name is, or an area where someone may have pain.  I felt like we were supposed to talk to someone in a banana costume.  We spotted a man dressed as a banana right away, so I chatted with him briefly about God, and if he had pain in his body, but he ended our conversation pretty quickly, but politely.  So we headed back down the street and saw another guy dressed in a banana costume (who knew bananas were so ‘in’ this Halloween, we saw a 3rd one later on as well) so my group started to make our way through the crowd towards him.  As we were about to reach him, we heard gunshots.  Everyone ducked down, screamed, and started running in the other direction.  I felt like I was in a shooting scene of a movie.  So the guys in our group grabbed us girls and we joined the rest of the crowd to get to a safe distance.  Our whole team was safe, but one man did die and two others were injured from the shooting.  We walked around for about an hour or so more, just praying and releasing peace over the few blocks of chaos.

We prayed and prophesied over a girl standing outside of a club with a broken leg.  She was really blessed and kept saying how nice and amazing we were, and wished she could have us on her shoulder all the time to feel as good as she felt at that moment.  We then went back to Oasis, and prophesied over some of the YWAM students and made some awesome new friends.

Well it’s currently past my bedtime, so I will continue to fill you in on my journey later this week!

Love you all!

When The Kingdom Comes

My second year at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry has officially begun!

Thank you everyone who gave to me and are praying for me.  I’ve sat in my room and cried because I am so blown away by your generosity and how you have invested into my life. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!

This past week has been filled with questions, and building expectations for my year. We jumped right into Kris Vallotton asking my class some questions about the Kingdom of heaven invading earth.  What does it actually look like for the Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven? (Matthew 6:10)  Initially I thought of miracles happening, healings taking place, and other crazy supernatural stories.  But these miracles are all SIGNS which show that the kingdom is near, or at hand, but they are not “the kingdom”.  So, what then, would it look like for the kingdom to come to earth?  I think it would look like God’s presence being recognized, acknowledged, and realized everywhere.  And many other things, but I’d love to hear if you have any thoughts or ideas about what it would look like for the kingdom to come to earth as it is in heaven.  Leave a comment, msg me on Facebook, email me at jenessa.peters@gmail.com or on Twitter @JenessaPeters  :)

The pastors of second year have declared many things about what type of year we are going to have, and one declaration was that this will be a year of “Never have I ever…”  I put this declaration into practice this past weekend as I went to some waterfalls on the side of the road and decided to go cliff jumping!.  Never have I ever cliff jumped before, even though I have had many opportunities in the past to conquer this fear of heights and jumping.  Many of you who are close to me know that I don’t do heights, and I don’t ever regret not doing them.  So you can imagine my shock when something took over my body as I fumbled my way down the side of a mountain to the edge of a 15ft cliff.  I stood at the edge with a gorgeous waterfall to my left and stared down at my friends swimming at the bottom of the drop.  I stop thinking and started to jump instead!  It was a long drop, haha!  But I am still alive!  We made our way through the water, did another jump, and eventually arrived at a natural rock water slide!  It was one of the coolest things I have seen, and it was alot of fun to slide down.  I had never ever wanted to jump off a cliff, but I did it, and had such an incredible day, soaking up the sun, swimming, and having my first taste as an adrenaline junky!

It has been great to be back in Redding, and to see my Bethel family!

Please pray for Redding to receive some rain - especially from you all in Abbotsford! - There are quite a few large fires on mountains near by, and our sky is thick with smoke, and constantly smells like a giant bonfire outside.  These fires have been started by lightning, and so we need some moisture to clear everything up, and keep the land from getting more fires.

So that’s a bit of my week!!  LOVE YOU ALL!! Please keep in touch with me :)

Signs to make you Wonder.

Hi everyone!  Sorry I haven’t checked in for a while, but I am still alive and thriving!

This past week my cousin, Makaela , came to visit me and we had a great time together.  I was so thankful to have someone who I have history with come and experience a little taste of what my life is like in Redding.  Thanks for venturing on a train to come bless me, Mak!  It was so much fun!

Last night I was hanging out with two of my friends, Brittena and Linda.  We were chatting about what we were contending for in our lives and in our friendship.  We started praying for Linda’s head trauma side effects, and for her restless sleep, then moved on to praying for my eyesight to be restored.  Nothing “crazy” was happening, but we were excited to be in agreement together for healing in our lives.  Next we moved to Brittena and the pain she had in her hips.  I bent down to see if her legs were the same length, as that could cause her some pain.

SIDENOTE** God has been growing out a lot of legs in Redding recently, and I was a bit fed up of only hearing stories and not witnessing it happen.

Brittena’s legs were the same length.  Then I remembered that my right leg was shorter than my left leg!   I broke my right leg when I was four, and had knee injuries, pain, and shin splints in that leg all through school and sports.  So I excitedly took my socks off, sat down, and sure enough, my right leg was a few centimeters shorter than my left.  Brittena laid her hands on my foot, and Linda had one hand on my leg and one hand on my foot…

Immediately as they touched me, my leg grew out right before my own eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!

They did not even get a chance to utter a word.  It just started growing!  Linda felt my leg stretch beneath her hand, and Brittena and I watched in absolute shock as my leg got longer.  We all started freaking out, crying, laughing, shouting, and freaking out some more.  I was genuinely frightened, and yet so happy.  I didn’t feel anything strange at all, I only knew something was happening because I was watching.

I barely remembered that my leg was shorter and had caused some issues, but God took care of something so seemingly silly.  I feel so loved.  So thought about.  So cared for.  Thank you Jesus.

“Don’t believe me unless I carry out my Father’s work.  But if I do his work, believe in the evidence of the miraculous works I have done, even if you don’t believe me. Then you will know and understand that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father.” – Jesus,  John 10:37-38

Love you all!

American Thanksgiving

Happy ‘American’ Thanksgiving!

I haven’t posted in a while, so here’s a list of things that I am thankful for, that will cover some of the last few months!

I recently moved to a new house, with an amazing community of Bethel students, in the midst of one of the lowest income communities in Redding, called Clay Street.  Every Wednesday night we go on a prayer walk through the neighbourhood, reclaiming it for the victory and love of Jesus.  The group ‘adopted’ me into the Clay street family; I saw knees get healed, and a woman get delivered of tortmenting spirits in her mind.  There are no dull moments in living for Jesus!

About a week and a half ago I spoke outloud to the Lord about a few things that I wanted.  I wanted a CD player, a guitar and a car to be given to me.  5 of my friends were given a completely paid for trip to Hawaii by someone who had overheard them talking about wanting to go to Hawaii.  Another friend had prayed for a piano, but didn’t tell anyone her desire, a week later a pastor emailed her and said he had the keyboard she had asked for in his office.  Another friend needed some money and she got a cheque in the mail for $3000 and then some friends of hers decided to buy her a car, talk about a favourable week!  So I was feeling a bit left out, and decided to ask for a few things I mentioned above.  Only 6 days after I had asked for these things, I was at my friend’s house and her roommate came specifically up to me and asked if I wanted her CD player.  I probably stared at her with the dumbest look on my face, and then a huge grin!  OF COURSE I WANTED IT!! I JUST asked Jesus for one!  So this morning I got to listen to one of my favourite worship leaders, William Matthews, on my miraculous CD player while I ate my breakfast.  :)  Yesterday my friend offered to let me practice on her guitar while I take lessons, and I may be given a car after Christmas!!  The Lord heard some of my silly and important wants, and He wasted no time in giving me the things that I wanted.  That shows me such a new aspect of His character, not only will He provide for my needs, He wants to lavish me with the things that I want!

“You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?  Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not!  So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”  Matthew 7:9-11

Guess what?!  I am going to Israel in March, with a group of about 30 people.  I am not allowed to give alot of detail about what we are going to do on public pages, but if you want more details email me at jenessa.peters@gmail.com and I would be really excited to share with you about our trip!

If you are interested in financially supporting me please go to www.ibssm.org and at the bottom of the page click “Give Online” and follow the directions!  Or you can give cash/cheque to my mom and she can put it towards my trip!

Most of all I am so thankful for all of you who cover me in prayer, and support.  I often stop and am in awe that you have all believed in me and have helped make this journey possible!  I am having the most amazing time of my life!  Love you all and I’ll be home in about 23 days for Christmas!

Open Heavens

This week is the Open Heavens conference at Bethel.  At 1 am last night I was just about to fall asleep when my housemates and their mom came bursting into my room full of excitement!

The sisters’ mom is staying with us for a few days, she attended the conference this weekend, and was touched in a strange but awesome way.  She had many dark fillings in her mouth, many of her teeth in the back of her mouth and near the front were dark from cavities and fillings.

She comes in and smiles and her teeth are GOLD!! pure, shiny GOLD.  No more dark gray teeth, it looks like she got grillz.

Last night at the conference gold dust was ‘exploding’ in the sanctuary.  My housemate, Alina, was also there, and she said the dust and flakes were so thick that she would breathe in, and taste the gold!  It tasted like perfume, and it covered her whole body.

We all laughed and celebrated last night and prayed for my eyesight.  I am legally blind at a -9 and -8.  Thankfully I have glasses and contacts so that I can see, but I want my eyesight back!  I havent really asked the Lord to heal my eyes before I got to Bethel, but I feel like He is going to heal them this year.  I cannot fathom what it would be like to wake up and see, but I want that!  and I know He heals and cares about my eyes.  I wasn’t healed last night, but I’m not going to stop believing for this miracle.

I dont know why God gives gold teeth and rains down gold dust and flakes.  But it makes me sit here in awe of his glory.  I just want to know him more, because he keeps surprising me.  I serve an amazing, fun, brilliant, powerful God.

Week 2

Well, week 2 is complete! And I love it!  So much happens in one week, that it’s hard to document it all.

Firstly, the weather is still gorgeous here, in the high 30’s.  I got a chance to go boating and waterskiing last weekend.  My housemate and I thought that we would love to get a chance to waterski, and a random couple that we met while we were on the lake offered to take us!  It was just funny and a blessing.  I was so greatful for an extended summer!

We have been learning lots about living in a certain culture.  A kingdom culture, a culture of honour and love.  We are encouraged to create that inside of ourselves, and continue to bring it home with us when the 9 months ends, and not just live that way here in Redding.

We are able to choose some elective courses that will start in the next week or so.  I have chosen Supernatural Evangelism, Mentoring (Christian school kids/non Christian kids), Seniors home, Friday nights ( street ministry), Pregnancy( Loving women with unplanned pregnancy) .  We will get 2 of my top 5 choice this semester.

Next week I will be going on a retreat with my Revival Group.  I have the most amazing group, and I love hanging out with them.  One of the Canadians is actually from Abbotsford!  What a small world!

One of my favourite evenings so far included around 15 young people from 18-26 worshipping the Lord until 1 in the morning.        I was hanging with some friends who have 10 girls in their house and we met their guy neighbours, a house of 10 guys.  We pulled out the guitars and djembes and the Spirit came.  There was healings, prophesies, tears, excitement.  I left with amazing words spoken over me, headaches prayed for, and new awh for the Lord.  I was so excited at the ages of everyone in the house.  The Lord is raising up a generation of YOUNG PEOPLE who are going to bring him immense fame.

Often I have been woke up in the middle of the night, around 3 am, with a need to pray.  So I stumble into the bathroom, because that’s the best place I have have privacy, and some light, and I seek the Lord.  I am praying for you guys and for myself.  The lord is drawing my heart so intimately closer to Him, speaking to me, directing me, and I don’t even mind that its in the middle of the night….yet.

A recent exciting story:  I met a guy in the mall and we got to chatting a bit about Christianity, and he was really honest and didn’t like Christians.  So, all I could do was be loving and friendly, then leave it in the Lord’s hands.   So I have been praying for his heart to soften over the past week.  This morning, I decided to walk to starbucks and use the wifi.  As I was walking, I just prayed for divine encounters, to be aware of heaven invading earth, and to just throw away my schedule.  As I walk in, I see the guy I met in the mall!  So I take a deep breath, and start talking to him again…and he remembered me!  We talked for about 15 mins, and we are friends now!  I’m not pushing “Christianity” upon him, but I know what God I serve, I know I’ve been radically saved, and am in love with the Lord, there’s no hiding that.

Sorry that these are so long!  Hopefully you made it through ;)  I’ll try to split them up some more.

Much love!

Settled

I left for Redding a week ago!  I am now settled in.  I live in a cute home with 3 beautiful Romanian sisters, my rommate is from Brazil and there is also an American woman living with us- she loves to bake and so far has made us brownies and pancakes at 11:30 in the evenings.  So we decided as a “family” that if we eat treats together, we do pilates together.

I have met lots of wonderful people here and can call some friends already :)  I am so grateful that everyone is nice and wants to be here and seek the Lord.

Our first day of classes Kris Vallotton spoke on our identity in Christ and how Christians often work to attain things that we already have because we are God’s children.  You can ask me more about our teaching if you want, its all been eye opening to me.

Bill Johnson also spoke, and he asked everyone to stand up if they had been injured from a vehicle or sports accident that still was causing pain or interfering with life.  Around 50 people got healed that day!  I prayed for a man’s knees and he came up to me later saying that his knees felt “heaps better”.  One of my friends hurt his ankle and felt it “pop” back into place when he was prayed for, but its still quite swollen.  So I’m believing for him to be fully healed.

Yesterday I had my first Revival Group meeting.  I have an amazing pastor leading it, and 5 interns.  There are about 60 students in my group, 9 of them or Canadians.  So our group laid hands on all the Canadians and lifted up Canada together.  The tears came, and my heart is eager to be apart of the movement that the Lord is stirring in Canada!! I’m proud to be a Canadian!

Yesterday we did some fun activities with words of knowledge and prophesy.  We were to find a person we didn’t know and ask the Holy Spirit what city they were born in, or what the color of their bedroom was.  The Holy Spirit told me that her bedroom was bright pink, and it was!! I only said pink to her though, it’s hard to be fully confident in that situation, but it was amazing because he actually told me!  They spell faith here, R-I-S-k.  I am excited to practice spelling out faith in my life.  We also asked the Holy Spirit what their mom’s name was.  We both got them wrong.  Then we just spoke encourgement into their lives.

We are so encouraged to know and be confident in the fact that we are princes and princesses.  Children of the king.  We were destined for glory, for importance, to be like God.  We are often told to tell eachother that we are beautiful or amazing.  haha, its kinda fun.

As a school we are reading through Luke.  There is alot of homework and reading!

The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
   because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Thanks for all your love and prayers!  Love and miss you!
